Asarnha Bucha Day is a public holiday in Thailand to commemorate the day when the Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon over 2500 years ago – “Asarnha Bucha” is derived from the words “Asarnha” (the eighth lunar month) and “Bucha” (worship)
Also known as Wan Khao Phansa, according to the tradition that corresponds to a three lunar month cycle, monks and people searching for peace in religion. It is the day that marks the beginning of the three-month retreat for monks of Theravada monastic discipline during which they will stay in a particular place throughout the rainy season
